Lares Trek 4d/3n

We recommend following the basics of ecotourism. We must respect and protect the environment, as well as the archaeological complexes and local customs.

DAY 1: CUSCO - CALCA - AGUAS TERMALES LARES – WACAWASI.

LaresWe leave from Cusco at 06:30 am by bus and travel through the Sacred Valley, (4 hours), arriving at Aguas Termales Lares (3,200 msnm). We spend time in the medicinal hot springs, and after lunch we have four hours of trekking to our campsite Wacawasi (3,600 msnm).

DAY 2: WACAWASI - IPSAYCOCHA

After the breakfast, at 06:30 am continuing up through the valley, we arrive at the community of Huacawasi. People here produce some of the finest weavings in Peru. We will observe their great skills and brilliant techniques as they make ponchos and other garments. Passing the village we begin climbing up to Condor Pass, the second pass of the trip at 4,300m. From here, we catch a stunning view of the renowned Mount Veronica (5,750m.) Descending gently for about one hour, we come to the beautiful Epsaycocha Lake, our last campsite.

Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner.

DAY 3: IPSAYCOCHA - PATACANCHA - WILLOQ - OLLANTAYTAMBO - AGUAS CALIENTES

Today our trail leads downhill to an overlook facing a wide valley. Descending into the valley, we eventually arrive at the community of Willoq, where we have lunch. Finally arriving to Ollantaytambo (14:30 pm).

From here the group takes the train to Aguas Calientes and spends the night there in a comfortable and basic hotel.

DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU

After an early breakfast, we’ll take the bus to Machu Picchu (05:30 am). where you will enjoy a 2 ½ hour guided tour of the ancient inca citadel. After enjoying the ruins, we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time to enjoy the town and have time for lunch before we return to Cusco by train.

  • Hot water every morning and evening for washing purposes
  • We supply boiled water to fill in your water bottle all the time, if requested with enough time ahead.
  • Cook (03B,03L,03D) & snacks
  • Camping equipment (tents, mattress, cooking equipment, dinning tent, table and camping chairs), first aid & emergency oxygen bottle.
  • Bus uphill to Machu Picchu, entrance fee, guided tour, bus down hill, Tourist Train back to Cusco.

  • Personal equipment (sleeping bag)

RECOMMENDED PACKING LIST

Below you will find a list of equipment we recommend you bring with you.

  • Original passport:

  • Sleeping bag (suitable for temperatures down to -5C)

  • Sweater, jacket (something warm)
  • Camera, films and extra batteries
  • Water bottle, ideally non disposable canteen (boiled drinking water will be provided)
  • Torch / flashlight, plus extra batteries
  • Broad - brim or peaked cap
  • Sun block
  • Insect repellent
  • Toiletries & toilet paper, small towel
  • Swimsuit, for the hot springs
  • Selection of small snacks, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits, energy bars etc.
