The archaeological site of CHOQUEQUIRAW is part of the complex system of Andean towns in Vilcabamba Valley. In the time of the Incas, it was united and in communication with Machu Picchu by a complex network of trails.

CHOQUEQUIRAW is situated in the spurs of the mountain range of Salcantay, at 3035 m.a.s.l, surrounded by the snowcapped Apus of Yanama, Ampay, Choquecarpu, Pumasillo and Panta on the right side of Apurimac river in the Santa Teresa district, The Convention province of the departament of Cusco.

Located over the oriental heart of the Andes, situated in the Cusco south, Ausangate (6.333 above sea level) is considered an Apu or tutelary divinity to country towns of the Peruvian Andean south. We use a track  partially asphalted wich is the access to this amazing mountain, taking the route from Tinki. You need to be in good fitness for this ramble because it could be around seven or twelve days and you may feel malaise becuse of the heights and the sudden change of temperature.

This is an impressive trek around the snow-capped Ausangate mountains (6,372m) which can be done by horse or walking. You will pass over 5,200 m where it is possible to see some vicunas and also many alpaca herds, which is the main income for the Andean people on this area. You can bathe in hot springs and see red and green lakes with Ducks, Pintails, Andean Coots, Puna Ibis, Andean Goose.and much more.

DIA 1: MOLLEPATA  (2850m.) – SORAYPAMPA (3850m.) – ARANAYANIYOC (3700m.)

Traslado del hotel a la estación de bus a Mollepata en 3 horas donde acá pararemos para un desayuno y compras por nuestro personal para luego continuar 1 hora más en carro hasta Soraypampa (3850 m.s.n.m) donde será nuestro lugar de partida al tour.

Haremos una parada en Salkantaypampa (4000 m.s.n.m) para el almuerzo

Posteriormente subiremos al punto más alto el paso a 4600 m.s.n.m lugar donde pararemos para ofrendas y fotos
