Tambopata Jungle
We recommend following the basics of ecotourism. We must respect and protect the environment, as well as the archaeological complexes and local customs.
Day 1
Leave for Cayman lodge amazonia.
As soon as you arrive at Puerto Maldonado (World's Biodiversity Capital), you will be met at the airport and taken to the Madre de Dios river harbor. The boat trip on the river will last approximately two hours.
Lunch on board. Continue heading for Cayman lodge amazonia. You will go for a long walk in the amazon rainforest in the afternoon and camp out on the banks of lake Sachavacayoc. Nocturnal walk to observe caymans and capybara (South American vegetarian rodents that live near rivers) and to listen to the jungle breathe. You will spend the night here.
Day 2
Early in the morning you will go on a canoe trip to observe birds, parrots, aras, squirrel, capucin and howler monkeys. All along the river you will learn to tell the difference between the different types of daytime animal cries.
Breakfast then hike back to the lodges through the jungle where you will observe the biodiversity of the medicinal plants.
Lunch. You will visit a native community in the afternoon to discover how the locals live in the jungle. Dinner. Night spent at Cayman lodge amazonia.
Day 3
We ask that you get up early to have breakfast and make the return trip to Puerto Maldonado so that you can have the privilege of seeing the sunrise on the river. You will also be able to observe the wild life that is particularly active at this time of the day. The guide will take care of getting you to the airport and handling all necessary departure formalities.
LA KOLPA Y COLORADO 4D/3N
Day 1
Departure for Cayman lodge amazonia.
As soon as you arrive in Puerto Maldonado (World's Biodiversity Capital), you will be met at the airport and taken to the main harbor. The boat trip up the Tambopata river will take approximately two hours. You will be given a welcome cocktail. There will be a short tour of the installations and conveniences in the lodges. Lunch.
In the afternoon you will visit a local community to experience the daily life of people who live in the jungle. Dinner. In the middle of the night you will go out to discover the fauna around Cayman lodge amazonia and move to the noctural rhythms of the amazonian jungle.
The animals that live in the rainforest mainly come out at night. You will spend the night in the jungle.
Days 2
Trip to the Kolpa des Aras.
After an early breakfast you will get back in the boat to go up the Tambopata river for 4 ½ hours to the interior of the national reserve where the furthest kolpa is located. This kolpa is actually one of the biggest on the banks of this part of the Tambopata river. After lunch you will have the afternoon to yourselves to explore the trails in this region. You will camp out on the beach near the kolpa.
Days 3
Tour of the park and trip back to Cayman lodge amazonia.
Early wake up call to have breakfast and admire the aras waking up in the Kolpa. They come to find the minerals and salts whose digestive properties neutralize the toxins they have ingested. There are on average several hundreds of aras and parrots that come on a daily basis to the kolpa. You will see aras with blue, yellow, green and brown eyes and parrots with blue heads. At the end of the morning you will go for a long walk in the forest to look for the 9 species of monkeys that live in this region. Lunch on board and trip back down the river to the lodges. Dinner. In the evening you will take a canoe to look for caymans, capybaras and other types of nocturnal animals along the Tambopata river. You will spend the night at Cayman lodge amazonia.
Days 4
Return trip.
It is recommended that you get up early for breakfast and the trip back to Puerto Maldonado so you will get to see the gorgeous sunrise on the river. The wistitis and the howler monkeys that you often hear will accompany you throughout the trip back to Puerto Maldonado. During this last trip you will be continually amazed so that you dream will live on. The guide will take care of getting you to the airport, all departure formalities and anything else you may need.
